Stelios Grafakos holds a Bachelor in Economics from the Athens University of Economics and Business, a Master’s Degree in Environmental Management from the University of Amsterdam and he is currently pursuing his PhD at Erasmus University Rotterdam. His thesis focuses on the development of an integrated decision support and analysis tool for the assessment of different climate mitigation technologies in the energy sector. His research interests and experience lie towards the climate mitigation and adaptation policy analysis, the assessment of policy instruments for climate and energy policy, the valuation of environmental goods and services and the development of integrated decision support and assessment tools for climate and environmental policy. He is currently working at the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS) as a scientific advisor, lecturer and trainer in the field of climate change, integrated analysis of energy systems and environmental economics in urban areas. Furthermore, he is leading the development of the CLIMACT Prio decision support and capacity building tool for the prioritization of climate change actions. He has worked at the Energy Research Centre of The Netherlands (ECN) on international energy and climate policy issues and at the Wageningen University, Centre for Climate and Water, on issues related to ecosystem services valuation and multifunctional land use management in developed and developing countries. He has worked in Greece and The Netherlands on various large research projects and has carried out research in different countries. In addition he has published several peer reviewed articles in books, journals and conferences.
