IHS Alumni Indonesia Meeting
On 14 November 2009 IHS organized a special alumni meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia together with a number of dedicated Indonesian IHS Alumni. On the occasion of the visit of Sarah Steendam of the IHS Marketing & Communication department to represent IHS at the Holland Education Fair 2009 a dinner meeting was hosted at Mulia Hotel, Senayan.
Mellyana Frederika, IHS Alumna of Master programme UMC7 left IHS in 2000 and was the co-host of the event that assembled around 30 former IHS participants from different generations. Several alumni were recent graduates, other dated their studies at IHS back to the eighties. The whole event was documented on video (to be published soon) and the pictures can be seen below. The IHS Alumni Association Indonesia has been founded in previous years, but maintaining the network and keeping in tocuh with each other through the vast archipelago was a challenging task. Mellyana and some other committed alumni however would like to revitalize the network again and give it another chance to proof its worth. An active Alumni Network in Indonesia would be able to organize activities and seminars and open a valuable international network to IHS alumni. The foundation of the IHS Alumni Relations Office and the conviction of IHS to invest in the further development of services for alumni could provide a great opportunity to see if we can make the Association work in Indonesia.
During the event several speeches were made. Sarah Steendam addressed the recent foundation and objectives of the IHS Alumni Relations Office, and several alumni recounted memories of studying at IHS in Rotterdam. We were also very honored to welcome a speech by Mr. Irwan Habsjah, chairmember of INA and Erasmus University Rotterdam alumnus. Mr. Habsjah explained the added value IHS alumni can benefit from being also EUR alumni.
A delicious buffet was served for all alumni to enjoy, contact details were exchanged and the hopes expressed that this Alumni Meeting might be the start of more content related events to be organised. After all, IHS Alumni will make cities work.
