Content in brief
The tailor-made training programme will help participants to become effective actors in the regeneration initiative of Berea-Burgers Park in Pretoria. The participants will produce Action Plans and a Strategic Plan for the area which will provide a guideline for new developments. The substantive focus of the capacity building component of the programme will be to provide participants with a broad understanding of the most important economic, social and political dynamics affecting inner city areas.
Course Methodology
Tools will be provided to the target group to implement the process of urban regeneration. These tools will consist of a theoretical basis that will allow the participants to place regeneration processes in a wider framework, and of case studies and best practices. The applicability of the latter to the specific context of Berea-Burgers Park will be guaranteed through group discussions.

Detailed Objectives of the Programme:

To provide learning opportunities directly connected to the preparation and implementation of inner city revitalisation policies, programmes and projects

To expose participants to international experience and to introduce theoretical and practical approaches to inner city revitalisation

To familiarise participants with relevant tools and techniques and to apply these to the Berea-Burgers Park in Pretoria
