Scholarships

If you are looking for a fellowship to sponsor your study at IHS then you must take a number of steps. IHS will assist you in making it possible. Check whether you are eligible for the Nuffic Netherlands Fellowship Programme.

IHS partial fellowships in 2012
IHS offers partial fellowships for the following courses:

The number of partial fellowships that IHS can provide is small. Also note that the IHS fellowships are offered as partial fellowships covering flight and accomodation expenses. Participants are requested to cover tuition fee, insurance, visa and living costs themselves.

The application round for IHS partial fellowships will be announced to admitted candidates of each programme by the IHS course buro prior to the starting date of the programme. Applicants have to fill in an application form for the IHS partial fellowship and will be selected based on their motivation letter that was submitted in the admissions procedure.

Procedures to get a fellowship take time. We advise you to approach donors and funding agencies with at least 6 months in advance. In this file you can find more information on how to work this out.

IHS can help you finding a potential sponsor in your country of region. If you have any questions on fellowship possibilities, please contact: admisson@remove-this.ihs.nl

Proof of admission
Often fellowship donors require proof of the candidate's admission to the course. For that purpose, IHS will grant provisional admission to qualified candidates whose application have reached IHS with all attached certified documents.

Procedures
If you apply directly for external funding, you should contact the relevant office or representative of a funding agency or the diplomatic mission of a country providing financial assistance. In all cases, letters of endorsement from appropriate authorities and letters of acceptance from the university or training institution should support the application. That is why the provisional admission letter issued by IHS is a very important document to support your sponsorship request. In some countries, fellowships are allocated to governments, who then nominate candidates. In this case, the standard procedure for an applicant is to request his/her employer or university to nominate him/her to the pertinent government office in his/her country. Only then one can be finally nominated as a candidate to a fellowship donor.
