Dainah is an urban housing and land development specialist with special interest in housing for the low income groups and Social Development policy. Having completed a degree in Urban and Regional planning in the University of Nairobi, Kenya she is currently pursuing her masters in urban management and development at IHS and is also a lead expert with the National Environment Management authority, Kenya.
Dainah has five years of experience in urban development research and works as a program officer in the Research and Housing Team of Pamoja Trust in Kenya, researching on housing rights and slum upgrading in Kenya cities. Besides working directly for Pamoja Trust, she has been part of the consortium for the ministry of housing, Kenya engaged in developing social economic reports for implementation of the Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Programs (KISIP) .
Dainah’s main goal is becoming and remaining a distinguished urban development specialist and contributing to development of pro poor social policies that would help solve the challenge of increased poverty and vulnerability in African cities and creating socially integrated cities that are conducive to all social groups especially in African cities which are marred with poverty and inequality.
