On the 1st of November, IHS PhD researcher Daniel Adamu will defend his PhD thesis, entitled: “Partnership-led Housing Delivery. The Influence of PPP Model and Collaborative Capacity on Affordability: Nigerian Experience”.

For years now, Daniel focuses his research efforts on how PPP structure and agency influence outcomes in Partnership-led housing projects. He observed that most PPP projects find it challenging to provide affordable housing (as targeted outcome) to meet the growing need, particularly for the low-income group.  In his research, he is seeking to understand how PPP model and collaborative capacity (structure and agency) influence affordability in partnership-led projects in Nigeria.

His research was triggered by the housing situation in urban Nigeria, which started to change after 30 years of military rule. A return to democracy opens the housing sector to private investors. However, most of the houses were targeted for the rich. For Daniel, it’s all about affordability. With his drive to work towards an egalitarian society, this concept also forms the core of his PhD research".

This research is not only valuable for the housing situation in Nigeria; finding new ways of making PPPs more efficient and effective is becoming a global agenda. Join Daniel’s defence to hear more about the research.
