Why study in Rotterdam?
Living in such a multicultural city like Rotterdam will make your study abroad experience truly enriching. Most people speak English and are happy to help. Besides that, its location makes it very easy to travel to other countries in Europe. Moreover, the country itself has a very good infrastructure, with good connections between main cities and within them. As any other Dutch city, Rotterdam is very bike-friendly, which can make your daily transition quite enjoyable.
Founded mid 13th century, Rotterdam officially became a city in 1340 and it evolved from just a fishermen village into a renowned international centre of trade and industry with 600.000 citizens. After being devastated by bombings at the beginning of World War II, the city was not only rebuilt, but reinvented. A new structure dictated also the new modern identity and the pioneering spirit of the city. "Make it happen" is the vision that supports the growth of this fantastic city, illustrated by the fusion between the port, the city of Rotterdam and Erasmus University Rotterdam.
