Current facets (Pre-Master)
UESC is prominent within the postgraduate diploma Urban Management Tools for Climate Change (UMTCC) which showcases different city and community-based management tools and approaches dealing with climate change adaptation and mitigation.
Massive Online Open Course (MOOC)
UESC, in collaboration with the African Local Governments Academy (ALGA), United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG) and Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR), developed the MOOC Planning for Climate Change in African Cities. The MOOC broadens the discussion on planning for climate change by engaging learners to apply their knowledge and practice their decision-making skills in a simulation exercise.
PhD candidates at IHS who are conducting research in the thematic areas related to the UESC specialisation have the possibility to collaborate with the team in our educational and research activities. The research interests of the team focus on urban planning for low carbon, adaptive and resilient human habitats, urban climate change and environmental decision making analysis, integrated sustainability and resilience assessments, urban climate and environmental finance, multi-level governance for adaptation and resilience.
