IHS training sessions during WUF VI
The 6th World Urban Forum (WUF VI) on the theme "The Urban Future" took place in Naples Italy from 1 to 6 September 2012. IHS was present at the WUF exhibtion as well as IHS academic staff gave four training sessions in collaboration with our partners. Below you see an overview of the trainings and their thematic focus.

IHS has been present during the last 6 biannual events of the World Urban Forum which took place in Barcelona, Vancouver, Nanjing, Rio de Janeiro respectively with Naples hosting the last WUF. IHS was also present there also in the exhibition of the forum among other international organizations such as the Shack/Slum Dwellers Internation (SDI), the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, the Asian Coalition for Housing Rights (ACHR), the Habitat for Humanity International, Siemens, Cities Alliance, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), Coca Cola , Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, as well as Amnesty International and Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internatioanle Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
During the World Urban Forum VI, more than 200 people visited our booth asking for more information about our work in advisory, research as well as more details about our post-graduate courses.
The 1st IHS Alumni International Award of Distinction ceremony took place during the World Urban Forum in Naples on 5 September 2012. IHS Alumni International awarded two urban actors that have demonstrated in their respective cities that radical change is possible with leaders who invest in and understand the value of urban centers and their impact on country development. The first awardee is Dr. Sergio Fajardo, former Mayor of Medellin, Columbia and the current Governor of Antioquia. The second awardee is His Excellency, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, the Governor of Lagos, Nigeria.
The Award ceremony was followed by an IHS Alumni International meeting where the new board of the IHS Alumni International was announced to the alumni who were present and the guests.
The old board presented the work that was done until that day and made suggestions for the future of the IHS Alumni International. The new president of the board, Ms. Julia Skinner through her speech thanked all alumni for their vote and made a pledge to serve the purposes of the IHS Alumni International for the coming two years.
