Networks for Urban Professionals

IHS Alumni International

There is a great need for networking of urban professionals world-wide to promote our field of work in urban management and development. Hereby, sustainable urban development can be put on the agenda of local and national governments as well as of international organisations and donors. We have to make the pressing urban problems - and our expertise to solve them - visible. This makes it vital to connect us as professionals and share knowledge and experiences since in the end although all cities are complex and different we can learn so much about urban solutions. This is not only in the direction North-South but also South-North and increasingly important: South-South. This awareness of the need to create a platform and a voice for urban development professionals was one of the major motivations to found IHS Alumni International.

The interesting challenge will be that this network is virtual and online since its members are truly globally dispersed. We hope that all the real bonds that could be established by meeting at IHS Rotterdam as well as the possibilities of online communication will enable this unique network to become a success.

Therefore, IHS AI is an open space for YOU! Do you want to share your views and news together on a blog, do you read and post job ads & scholarships, calls for papers etc.? Then join in and help us to create a lively online platform. Email to us (alumni@ihs.nl) and post your professional profiles, discussion, comments & news on LinkedIn.
