More about the project
The project aimed to facilitate a systematic transition towards a social model of wellbeing by understanding the requirements for implementing and institutionalizing broader and community-based prevention approaches to wellbeing. An innovative preventive approach - Welzijn of Recept (WoR)- was utilised to promote inclusive collaboration between healthcare professionals and communities to address the social and community determinants of wellbeing. It recognises and embraces the impact of social, cultural, political, and local conditions on wellbeing and co-creates solutions for wellbeing inequalities and community resilience. The study had valuable societal contributions, including:
- Advancing knowledge on the complex mechanisms that shape wellbeing, and the buffering role of community resilience by utilizing an innovative mixed-methods approach combining agent-based modeling and action research;
- Applying directly the knowledge on wellbeing complexities in the local communities; and
- Developing a transition roadmap towards reorienting conventional health and wellbeing practices into a social model of wellbeing.
