IHS invites early-career and senior researchers to the annual Urban Research Day on Thursday, 8 October 2026. Held as part of UN-Habitat’s Urban October initiative, this year’s event focuses on impact-oriented urban research tackling the interconnected global crises facing our world.
More about the event
Our contemporary societies face a complex polycrisis from climate change and social inequality to shifting governance and the privatisation of public services, which manifests uniquely within urban environments. This event serves as a collaborative platform to explore how urban research can provide meaningful insights, policy interventions, and local practices to counter these systemic shocks. Attendees will engage with critical academic contributions centred around urban resilience, equity, and alternative local innovations.
Attendance & participation
Please note: While the call for abstracts is open to all researchers, general attendance at this on-site event is by invitation only. Selected abstract presenters and invited guests will receive formal confirmation and registration details closer to the event date.
