The Urban Environment, Sustainability and Climate Change (UESC) specialisation investigates the most recent trends, developments and challenges related to green and low carbon growth, climate resilience and ecosystems services in urban areas worldwide.

Among others, our research interests focus on the relationship between smart cities and sustainability, policy instruments to foster urban green growth, low carbon cities, effectiveness and efficiency of urban adaptation and mitigation initiatives, pathways to urban resilience, the relationship between urban designs and environmental performance, urban governance arrangements for green and climate resilience cities, multi-level and multi actor governance for urban sustainability, and sustainability assessment methodologies.
