More about the programme
The two-day event offers a mix of interactive career workshops, presentations and panel discussions.
Day 1 | 16 April
Introductory presentation by IHS Alumni Relations Officer, Stefana Cozan.
In this informative workshop you will gain insight into different ways to approach the labor market, including the invisible labor market. You will learn about effective ways of applying to avoid having to compete with 100 fellow applicants. The message is; don't just focus on job boards but find your own way. You will discover how to do this in this workshop.
The goal of this session is to showcase career paths in academia and research. It will feature a panel discussion with IHS professionals who work in related fields. The discussion will cover various research topics and the international organisations that IHS collaborates with and students can be part of in the future. Additionally, the session will provide insights into the life of a PhD researcher, sharing their experiences and the opportunities available within our programme.
Have you ever wondered what an HR manager thinks while reviewing your job application? We will give you a sneak peak from an HR point of view. Frédérique van 't Groenewout-Beerden, a former HR Manager at IKEA and current IHS Head of HR together with Hanan Azhimi, HR Partner at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), will share some valuable tips and ideas on how to make your application stand out and more appealing to employers.
Day 2 | 17 April
A successful job interview starts with self knowledge and preparation. In this workshop, you will learn
how to present yourself convincingly in interviews – substantively, personally, and professionally.
You will learn, among other things:
- How to align your profile with the role and organisation
- Typical Dutch interview questions and how to anticipate them
- How to apply the STAR technique when giving examples
- What questions you can ask the employer
Our communications team is here to help you improve your LinkedIn profile in a dedicated LinkedIn corner. We'll provide tips on what experiences to include and how to make yourself stand out to recruiters. Need a professional profile photo? Don't worry - we'll take one for you that you can use on your profile or CV.
Please note that spots for this session are limited.
Connect with IHS alumni who have successfully transitioned into various professional fields. Whether you're seeking career advice, mentorship, or industry insights, this session offers the perfect platform to make meaningful connections and explore diverse career paths.
