About the lecture
Cities are in a constant state of unprecedented change. To remain sustainable, liveable and competitive, cities need well-trained urban managers in policy development and good governance. The MSc in Urban Management and Development (UMD) is a 12-month English-taught programme where students can specialise further within their chosen field whilst benefiting from a broader understanding of sustainable urban management offered at IHS.
In her lecture titled Inequality in cities - current trends and challenges, Dr Paula Nagler will explore inequality in cities in the context of rapid global urbanisation. As cities expand, they generate economic opportunities but also widen disparities in income and living conditions. The lecture introduces key drivers of urban inequality - such as technological change, labour market transformations, migration, and informality - and considers their implications for urban policy and development.
