29-31 October 2021 SDG Cities Global Conference : Transformative actions by cities to accelerate SDG impact hosted by UN-Habitat and Shanghai Municipal People's Government, China 

06 October 2021 In Focus: SDG 11 “Housing & sustainable urban development in a world marked by Covid-19 and climate change” Hybrid meeting (Room Tempus 3, Palais des Nations, Geneva/virtual)

The “In Focus: SDG 11” event will be held ahead of the UNECE Housing Ministerial Meeting. It will be an opportunity for cities, city networks and other stakeholders to provide their perspectives on The UNECE Regional Action Plan (RAP) Place and Life in the UNECE – A Regional Action Plan2021: Tackling challenges from COVID-19 pandemic, climate and housing emergencies in region, city, neighbourhood and homes and share how they contribute to achieve sustainable urban development through adequate, safe and affordable housing in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic and in the face of the climate emergency. Outcomes of the event will inform the discussions of the UNECE Housing Ministerial Meeting and foster cooperation between all relevant stakeholders (States, UN agencies, cities, city networks, NGOs, academia, private sector) to create synergies and promote the effective implementation of SDG11 and other relevant urban-related SDGs.

9 - 11 September 2020 Urban Growth 2020, 2nd International Conference on Urban Growth and the Circular Economy, Bilbao, Spain (COVID-19 - Status Update -please note that following the recent events on the Coronavirus pandemic and with the main objective to preserve the well being of the delegates, the format of this conference has been changed to an online event). 

9 – 11 June 2020 Beyond 2020 World Sustainable Built Environment Conference [BEYOND 2020 will focus on creating clear links between the most relevant UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the built environment. Central to the discussion will be achieving UN Sustainable Development Goal 11, Sustainable cities and communities by the 2030 deadline.] Svenska Mässan, The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre, Gothenburg, Sweden

As the COVID-19 situation rapidly changed in Sweden, the Swedish Authorities have decided to stop all sorts of events with 500+ attendants until further notice. BEYOND 2020 is therefore put on hold, due to force majeure circumstances

Note: This event was also cancelled because of COVID-19.

 

6 - 8 May 2020 11th International Conference on Sustainable Development and Planning, A Coruña, Spain

Following the recent events on the Coronavirus pandemic and with the main objective to preserve the well=being of delegates, WIT has decided to postpone the Sustainable Development and Planning 2020 conference until after the summer break. The conference was due to be held 6-8 May 2020 in A Coruña, Spain and will now be held in conjunction with Urban Growth 2020 from 9-11 September 2020 in Bilbao, Spain

 

6 - 7 May 2020 Sustainability Science Days Conference, Finland [In the conference, the underlying premise of creative destruction is discussed especially in the context of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals 9 and 11. This comprises building resilient infrastructures, promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization and fostering innovation (#9) with special emphasis on cities and other kinds of human settlements (#11). Creativity and destruction are indispensable to make communities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.] Conference takes place at several venues at the City Centre Campus of University of Helsinki and Aalto University in Espoo

Sustainability Science Days conference 6-7 May 2020 has been CANCELLED due to the corona virus. Most probably the event will be organized in May 2021
