Dr Sofia Pagliarin

Sofia Pagliarin holds a PhD in urban studies and spatial planning and development that she obtained in 2014 at the Bicocca University of Milan and KU Leuven. Her doctoral thesis focused on land-use patterns, multi-level governance and spatial planning factors related to land consumption and urban sprawl in the metropolitan areas of Barcelona and Milan.

Dr Beatriz Calzada Olvera

Beatriz Calzada Olvera is an economic researcher at IHS. She obtained her PhD in Economics and Policy Studies from Technical Change from Maastricht University School of Business and Economics/UNU-MERIT in 2022. Her research explores innovation, global value chains, natural resources, and structural transformation. Her academic interests include complexity and economic geography.

Dr Dr Lasse Gerrits

Lasse Gerrits has more than 10 years of experience in the field of public administration. His research interests include complexity sciences, governance, infrastructure development and socio-technological evolution. He is currently the Academic Director of IHS, Erasmus University.

Paula Nagler is an economic researcher at the Institute of Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS). Her research focuses on entrepreneurship and labour markets, social protection policies and inclusive innovation.

Dr Jan Fransen

Dr Fransen has over 25 years of experience in local economic development and resilience, particularly in urban resilience, community-based organisations, small firm development, informality, clustering, innovation systems, global value chains and institutional economics.
